MP Product Reviews Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (the "Terms") apply to your access to and use of MP Product Reviews (the "App"), a Shopify app provided by Merchant Playbook ("Merchant Playbook", "we", "us", or "our").

By installing, accessing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms and to any applicable Merchant Playbook policies, including our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not install or use the App.

If you install or use the App on behalf of a company, store, or other organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms. In that case, "you" and "your" refer to that organization.

1. App purpose and scope​

MP Product Reviews helps Shopify merchants collect, manage, moderate, and display product reviews.

The app may provide tools for:

  • Collecting customer reviews from storefront widgets
  • Displaying review lists, star ratings, and floating review tabs
  • Publishing, unpublishing, deleting, pinning, replying to, or exporting reviews
  • Adding internal notes
  • Sending review notification emails
  • Outputting eligible review structured data for SEO rich snippets

The App is provided for business use by Shopify merchants. It is not a legal, compliance, advertising, tax, reputation management, search engine optimization, or certification service.

2. Eligibility and Shopify account​

You may use the App only if you:

  • Are at least 18 years old or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction
  • Have a valid Shopify store or are authorized to act for one
  • Can enter into a legally binding agreement
  • Use the App only for lawful business purposes

Your use of Shopify remains subject to Shopify's own terms, policies, permissions, billing rules, and platform requirements.

3. License to use the App​

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, Merchant Playbook grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable license to access and use the App for your own Shopify store or business operations.

You may not copy, resell, sublicense, modify, reverse engineer, decompile, attempt to extract source code from, or create derivative works based on the App, except to the extent this restriction is prohibited by applicable law.

4. Merchant responsibilities​

You are responsible for how you collect, moderate, publish, and use customer reviews.

You agree that:

  • Review collection and display must comply with applicable laws, platform policies, advertising rules, consumer protection rules, privacy rules, and your own store policies
  • Published reviews, reviewer information, photos, merchant replies, internal notes, exports, and moderation decisions are your responsibility
  • You will not use the App to collect, import, publish, manipulate, suppress, or promote fake, misleading, unlawful, abusive, infringing, or deceptive content
  • You will review storefront widgets and SEO rich snippets before relying on them publicly
  • You will obtain any consent required for review collection, email communication, optional photos, publication, user-generated content, or personal information processing
  • You will not use the App to misrepresent customer sentiment, ratings, product quality, endorsements, or review authenticity
  • You are responsible for your products, services, customer relationships, review policies, incentives, disclosures, and compliance obligations

The App may help you collect and display social proof, but it does not verify that reviews, ratings, photos, claims, SEO output, incentives, moderation decisions, or public disclosures are legally compliant or factually accurate.

5. Review content and permissions​

"Review Content" means customer reviews, ratings, reviewer names, reviewer email addresses, photos, merchant replies, internal notes, moderation status, pinned review settings, exported data, and other content or data you provide, collect, configure, or make available through the App.

You retain ownership of your Review Content. You grant Merchant Playbook a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, process, display, adapt, export, and otherwise use Review Content only as needed to provide, maintain, secure, support, and improve the App.

You represent and warrant that you have all rights, permissions, licenses, notices, and consents necessary to collect Review Content through your store, provide it to the App, and display or export it through the App.

6. Acceptable use​

You agree not to:

  • Use the App for any unlawful, fraudulent, deceptive, harmful, abusive, or infringing purpose
  • Publish, import, request, or encourage fake, incentivized without disclosure, misleading, defamatory, abusive, discriminatory, or unlawful reviews
  • Misrepresent review volume, ratings, reviewer identity, product quality, endorsements, moderation practices, or customer sentiment
  • Use review content, photos, names, or emails in a way that infringes any third-party intellectual property, privacy, publicity, or other rights
  • Interfere with, disrupt, overload, scan, or test the vulnerability of the App or related systems without permission
  • Circumvent usage limits, security controls, billing controls, moderation controls, or access restrictions
  • Use the App to transmit malware, malicious code, spam, or unauthorized tracking
  • Attempt to access another merchant's store, data, account, reviews, or configuration
  • Resell, rent, lease, sublicense, or commercially exploit the App outside your own business operations

We may remove or restrict Review Content, suspend features, or limit access if we believe your use of the App violates these Terms, applicable law, Shopify policies, or creates risk for Merchant Playbook, Shopify, merchants, reviewers, shoppers, or third parties.

7. Plans, billing, and taxes​

The App may be offered for free, with paid plans, with usage-based charges, with trial periods, or with other pricing options shown in Shopify or in the App.

If fees apply, charges are handled through Shopify unless we state otherwise. You authorize Shopify or the applicable payment provider to charge the fees, taxes, and other amounts associated with your selected plan or usage.

Fees, billing cycles, upgrades, downgrades, cancellations, taxes, and refunds may be governed by Shopify's billing rules, the App listing, and any pricing information shown at the time you subscribe. Unless required by law or expressly stated otherwise, fees are non-refundable and are not prorated for partial billing periods.

You are responsible for all taxes, duties, levies, and governmental charges associated with your use of the App, except taxes based on Merchant Playbook's net income.

8. Shopify and third-party services​

MP Product Reviews works with Shopify products, themes, storefront systems, email services, storage, and other service providers.

The App may rely on Shopify APIs, theme app extensions, app blocks, app embeds, hosting providers, file storage, analytics tools, email providers, support tools, and other third-party services.

Your use of Shopify and third-party services remains subject to their own terms and policies. We are not responsible for third-party services, theme code, apps, browser behavior, platform restrictions, email delivery behavior, search engine behavior, or platform changes that may affect how reviews, ratings, widgets, emails, exports, or SEO structured data work.

9. App availability and changes​

We may update, improve, suspend, or change app features at any time.

We work to keep the App reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, error-free operation, complete accuracy, SEO outcomes, review display compatibility with every theme, email delivery in every situation, export availability in every situation, or compatibility with every Shopify theme, storefront setup, browser, device, region, product type, or third-party app.

We may add, modify, limit, or discontinue features, widgets, templates, emails, exports, display options, moderation tools, SEO output, integrations, or support for certain Shopify theme capabilities. We are not liable for modifications, suspensions, or discontinuation of the App or any feature.

10. No guaranteed business results​

MP Product Reviews is designed to help merchants collect and display social proof.

We do not guarantee specific review volume, conversion rates, ratings, search ranking changes, rich result eligibility, sales increases, reputation improvement, customer behavior, revenue, or business outcomes.

11. Privacy and data protection​

Our collection and use of information is described in our Privacy Policy.

You are responsible for providing any required privacy notices, cookie disclosures, consent mechanisms, review submission notices, publication disclosures, and other disclosures to reviewers, shoppers, and storefront visitors in connection with your use of the App, your Shopify store, and any third-party services you use.

If you provide personal information to the App or instruct us to process personal information, you represent that you have all necessary rights, notices, consents, and legal bases required by applicable law.

12. Intellectual property​

Merchant Playbook owns the app, interface, documentation, design assets, and related materials.

You retain responsibility for review content, images, replies, and data submitted through your store, subject to these Terms and applicable laws.

If you provide feedback, suggestions, ideas, or feature requests, you grant Merchant Playbook a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free right to use that feedback without restriction or compensation.

13. Disclaimer of warranties​

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise.

Merchant Playbook disclaims all warranties, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, availability, accuracy, reliability, security, compatibility, SEO eligibility, email delivery, and error-free operation.

You use the App at your own risk and remain responsible for reviewing the App's output, review content, public display, exports, and SEO structured data before relying on them publicly.

14. Indemnification​

To the maximum extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Merchant Playbook and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, contractors, service providers, and agents from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising out of or related to:

  • Your use or misuse of the App
  • Your Review Content, reviews, ratings, reviewer information, photos, merchant replies, internal notes, exports, products, services, or storefront
  • Your violation of these Terms, applicable laws, Shopify policies, or third-party rights
  • Your relationship or transactions with reviewers, shoppers, customers, suppliers, partners, or other third parties
  • Your privacy, advertising, consumer protection, review collection, user-generated content, product, tax, shipping, return, payment, or compliance obligations

15. Limitation of liability​

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Merchant Playbook is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages related to your use of MP Product Reviews.

This includes loss of profits, revenue, data, business opportunities, goodwill, reviews, ratings, or search visibility.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Merchant Playbook's total liability for any claim related to the App or these Terms will not exceed the amount you paid to Merchant Playbook for the App during the three months before the event giving rise to the claim.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations of liability. In those jurisdictions, the limitations apply only to the maximum extent permitted by law.

16. Termination and suspension​

You may stop using the app by uninstalling it from your Shopify store.

We may suspend, restrict, or terminate access to the App if we believe the App is being used in violation of these Terms, applicable laws, Shopify policies, or in a way that creates risk for Merchant Playbook, Shopify, merchants, reviewers, shoppers, or third parties.

Upon termination, your right to access and use the App ends. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including merchant responsibilities, payment obligations, intellectual property, privacy, disclaimers, indemnification, limitation of liability, and general terms.

17. Governing law and disputes​

These Terms are governed by the laws of Vietnam, without regard to conflict of law rules.

You and Merchant Playbook will try to resolve disputes informally first. If a dispute cannot be resolved informally, it will be handled by the competent courts located in Vietnam, unless applicable law requires otherwise.

18. Changes to these Terms​

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes to the App, our business, legal requirements, or Shopify platform requirements. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date.

Your continued use of MP Product Reviews after changes are posted means you accept the revised Terms.

If you do not agree to revised Terms, you must stop using the App and uninstall it from your Shopify store.

19. General terms​

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any other Merchant Playbook policies referenced here, make up the agreement between you and Merchant Playbook for the App.

You may not assign or transfer these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganization, sale of assets, or by operation of law.

If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining parts will remain in effect. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later.
