How to add a Tracking ID

Add a Tracking ID to connect MP Tracking Pixel with your GA4 property.

Before you start​

Prepare:

  • Your GA4 Measurement ID
  • Your Measurement Protocol API secret
  • The item_id format used by your product feed, if you use Google Merchant Center or Google Ads

Add the Tracking ID​

  1. From your Shopify admin, open MP Tracking Pixel.
  2. Go to Tracking IDs.
  3. Click Add tracking ID.
  4. Enter a name, such as Primary tracking ID.
  5. Enter your GA4 Measurement ID.
  6. Enter your Measurement Protocol API secret.
  7. Choose whether to enable gtag.js on the storefront.
  8. Choose whether to enable GA4 DebugView mode while testing.
  9. Select a GA4 item_id mapping.
  10. Review the ecommerce events.
  11. Click Save.

What happens after saving​

MP Tracking Pixel creates or updates the managed Shopify Web Pixel for your store.

Storefront sync may take 2-5 minutes after saving.

Tracking ID limit​

MP Tracking Pixel currently allows one Tracking ID per store.

If you see Tracking ID limit reached, edit the existing Tracking ID instead of creating another one.
