How to choose GA4 item_id mapping

The GA4 item_id value helps Google match ecommerce events with products in reports, Google Merchant Center, and Google Ads.

Choose the format that matches the product IDs used in your feed.

Available item_id options​

MP Tracking Pixel supports these options:

Change item_id mapping​

  1. Open MP Tracking Pixel.
  2. Go to Tracking IDs.
  3. Open your Tracking ID.
  4. Find GA4 item_id mapping.
  5. Select the format that matches your product feed.
  6. Review the example shown in the app.
  7. Click Save.

Which option should I use?​

Use the same identifier format that your Google Merchant Center feed uses for product IDs.

If you are not sure, start with Shopify variant ID, then compare GA4 ecommerce items with the IDs in your product feed.
