How to fix Measurement ID or API secret errors

MP Tracking Pixel validates GA4 credentials before saving a Tracking ID.

Measurement ID errors​

Use a GA4 Measurement ID that starts with G-.

Example:

G-ABC123DEF

If the field is rejected:

  • Remove extra spaces
  • Make sure you are using a web data stream Measurement ID
  • Check that the value starts with G-
  • Use only letters and numbers after the dash

API secret errors​

When creating a new Tracking ID, the Measurement Protocol API secret is required.

If an API secret is already saved, you can leave the field unchanged. Enter a new value only when you want to rotate or replace the saved secret.

Duplicate Tracking ID errors​

Each GA4 Measurement ID can only be added once per platform.

MP Tracking Pixel currently supports one Tracking ID per store, so edit the existing Tracking ID if you need to update credentials.
